FROM jQuery TO AngularJS

In a nutshell, jQuery is the “Write less, do more” javascript library. It is like using the phone instead of sending a telegram. It’s simple and cross-browser nature is what makes it a powerful script library for javascript, without having to worry too much about code structure and code maintenance.

What it doesn’t give us is the tool for data-binding model to dynamically template views. In that scenario, using angularjs instead of jQuery is a good choice. AngularjS, is built for Single Page web Applications (SPA’s) and you can do more than just DOM Manipulation. SPA’s exist to give the feeling of a desktop app, and a smoother browsing experience like the one found in native desktop apps.

You can do your complete web development by using this most powerful and adaptive javascript framework.You could do everything with angular what you can with jquery but this is not true for jquery.

You can actually use jQuery and angular at the same time, as angularjs is built on top of jquery. But jQuery is optional, and AngularJS has its own jQueryLite implementation which has some of the behavior of jQuery implemented as an API interface.

These reasons alone are enough to make AngularJS a framework of choice for enterprises to reduce development costs while shorten the time to deliver.

Wondering if you shouldupgrade your angular to the latest version? J

Well, Angular 2 is not a version upgrade, but a complete rewrite. However, AngularJS 1 is still a valid choice for Javascript SPA framework for it being simple and easier to understand for pure Javascript developers but we can look forward for Angular 2 to be the framework of choice for new projects.

Let’s start by writing a test AngularJS 2 application, the steps to Set Up development Environment;

  1. Install node js and npm
  1. Create the Application Folder
  2. Angular 2 is a component-oriented framework so weCreate angular root component for application
  3. Create Our Application’s Web Page in root directory of project – Now it is time to expose our component in a Web page. We will name this page index.html and we will place it in the/test
  4. Load Libraries,load modules, Configure SystemJS
  5. Run the Application
